Metamaterials are artificial materials with the properties could not be found in nature. Here we propose a simple method to prepare the metamaterials, using silver nanoparticles mix with epoxy. The samples are filled in the waveguides. The transmission/reflection measurement is performed from microwave to terahertz wave regime. The complex permittivity and permeability of epoxy-silver nanoparticle composites are extracted. The effective permittivity of silver nanoparticles is calculated using the effective medium theory, while the effective permeability is obtained by the scattering method. Measured effective permittivity and permeability depends on the volume fraction and exhibits strong diamagnetism.
