Nuclear excitation pumped by an X-ray Free Electron Laser (XFEL) pulse in an X-ray waveguide is theoretically investigated. Dielectric-cladding X-ray waveguide is a powerful tool for focusing hard X-ray in a small spot with a diameter smaller than 100nm. This feature renders the significant increase of coupling between nuclei and X-ray, i.e., Rabi-frequency, possible. We numerically solve 3-dimensional optical Bloch equation describing the interaction between two-level nuclei and a propagating XFEL pulse in a waveguide. In this talk we will discuss the optimization of waveguide structure for exciting nuclei.
