Confocal microscopy has been widely applied to obtain optical images. However, scanning point by point is time-consuming for the confocal technique. Both lateral and axial scanning is necessary because the confocal system is usually used to construct the three-dimensional images. Here, a non-axial-scanning slit confocal microscopy is presented. The proposed system combines multiplexed volume holographic gratings (MVHGs) in the illumination part and corresponding confocal slit apertures.
