Status of lattice QCD simulations for unravelling hadron structure

We report about the status of lattice QCD simulations with an emphasis on the recent development on parton distribution functions. We will introduce the concept of quasi distribution functions and demonstrate that this can be used to extract first principle information on the most inner structure of hadrons from simulations on state of the art supercomputers.
