Superradiant effects due to Population inversion in multiple electronic states of Nitrogen ions

The superradiant emission behavior of nitrogen ions in air plasma pumped by 800nm laser [1] is theoretically investigated. By numerically solving Maxwell-Bloch equation with multiple electronic states of nitrogen ions, we identify the main mechanism causes the population inversion in an air laser system. Moreover, the superradiant effects due to the interference between multiple seeding pulses or pumping pulses are revealed by studying the time-delayed spectral intensity. In this talk we will present the consistency between our theoretical result and experimental data [2].
