We have built a system creating ultracold ¹³³Cs and ⁷Li atoms in a dual magneto-optical trap (MOT). The system consists of two two-dimensional (2D) MOTs and a three-dimensional (3D) MOT. The first 2D MOT collects and cools Li and Cs atoms from the background gases in the system. These ultracold Li and Cs atoms will travel to the second 2D MOT for refocusing, and eventually arrive and be trapped in the 3D MOT. In the future, we will exploit the huge disparity in Li and Cs to simulate many-body effects and models, such as many-body localization.
